My RAM went bad, my computer manufactorer sent a new RAM
card. I purchased an lower mhz RAM card and installed it
to use until my new card arrived. It worked fine. When
the new card arrived I installed it and now my Windows XP
will not start. Can you help?

Greetings --

It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module(s) be fully
compatible with both the motherboard and/or any other RAM module(s)
already in the system. Additionally, there are sometimes jumper
switches on older motherboards that need to be reset for new RAM
configurations. Consult your motherboard's manual or the
manufacturer's web site for specific instructions and compatibility
requirements.

Are you still using the 'lower MHz' RAM as well? If so, try taking it
out, and just use the new RAM. The other possiblility is that the RAM
that they sent you is faulty (it does happen at times).

Does it still work with 'lower MHz' RAM on it's own?

Hello,

I did remove the RAM cards one at a time. It does run
fine with the lower Mhz card, but not with the newer
card. Windows XP will not start with the new card. It
comes up with a screen listing a configuration change as
a possible problem. The new card is the OEM. Do you
still feel it is possibly a bad card?
