To my surprise, the QMS 2200 which used to be listed at $900+ us
dollars at Amazon.com before xmas, has now been reduced to an
incredible $499.

It seems they want to get rid of the excess stock, probably to get the
new models in their warehouses.

I don't think I need to praise the QMS 2200, it's a great printer for
the money, with a wide availability of oem and compatible toner
refills. And considering that you can get TWO qms 2200 printers for
the price of one HP2500 or a single Okidata led printer, it becomes an
incredible deal.

Find the (1,200 x 600 dpi) QMS 2200 at amazon.com for $499 at the
links below:

or

Keep in mind, however, that due to the beast's weight, it doesn't
qualify for "super saver free shipping".

Not a special deal.

Don't mean anything, prices are lower now, you could buy a NEW Minolta-QMS
or HP or OKI for the same price.

....but a good deal if someone wants to use low priced aftermarket toner
(refill or remanufactured).

Exactly my point. You can purchase bulk toner for the QMS 2200 (high
quality bottled toner to do your own cartridge refills) for around
$120 for all 4 colors, compared to ~ $150 for each new original
cartridge.

That's exactly what makes the QMS 2200 such a good deal at Amazon's
$499 clearance price:
