Hi All,

Please could someone advise. I want to change my current processor for a new
P4.

Currently i have an evesham machine with a P2, ModelNumber 8 installed. I
have an old Intel P4 chip from a Dell machine which i would like installed on
my current machine. How can i find out if it is compatable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P4 processor will not install on a P2 processor motherboard. It would
need to be replaced.

It's a no go. The best you can hope for processor-upgradewise would be
a lower range p3. P3 450mhz or 500mhz may be the limit. Yes, a p3-450
is an upgrade from a p2-450. But... "starter" computers are extremely
cheap just now that are at least 10X as powerful as your current
system.

Actually the OP may be able to upgrade to a 850 or higher P3 if they use
a slotket adapter. I upgraded from a P2 450 to a P3 850 using this route.
