Windows XP HOME Ver 5.1 SP 3
I have recently downloaed some large-gile photos from my Canon camera.
After doing this, I can no longer open photos that I put into attachments to
e-mails and I cannot open pictures in the My Pictures folder with MS Picture
Manager.
I can only use Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

How can I restore the ability to open photos in all ways?

What is the model of your Canon?

How did you download the image files?

What is the format of the image files?

Camera is Canon EOS Rebel XT

Downloaded from media card inserted in my printer/reader.

Most of the files are JPEG.
Some of the recent files are CR2. Those, with some large JPEG files, were
most recently downloaded because I had my camera set to RAW and JPEG. That
was new to me.
The problem started after downloading those larger files.
I cannot, for example, open a small jpeg file that has come in an e-mail as
attachment, with the OPEN command.
Other stored, older files used to be able to be opened in any manner.
Now, I can ON LY open all picture files with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
I cannot seem to use Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

When I downloaded these recent larger files, they also went to Photoshop
Elements 6.0

I hope this helps and that you can help me.
Thanks, again.

I think it may be worth a try to reset your image
associations. The following links may be useful:
