Pete

I just assembled a new pc based on the Intel D875PBZLK.

Want to install XP pro etc. but on first boot the cdrw
will not open.

Any suggestions?

Make sure the BIOS is set to open first so you can set it
up. Intel motherboards have a BIOS jumper that will cause
the BIOS to open when powered-on. Other manufacturers may
use a different system, check your mobo manual.

Be sure the first boot device is set to be the optical
drive.

Make sure you connected the IDE cables and jumpers on the
drive correctly and connected the 12v power lead.

And the thought that you may have a bad connection or a defective unit never
entered your mind?
