Hi:
I want to build my own PC. But I need to buy the parts one by one in the
next few months.
My first question: What Mother Board and Processor?
I don't need the best, but I want the best value/cost option?
I have one HD 20GB, Floppy, Keyboard, Monitor and Mouse.
Next step the memory and case... some brand is better, no brand is good
enough?
Thanks in advance...
The best advice may be to wait on those parts that depreciate the
most, and which will be repaced by newer technology. Buy the parts
like case, power supply, CDROM/RW/DVD, then wait till the PC is nearer
"finished" to buy DVD-RW, motherboard, video and CPU. As for memory,
well, that's a tossup, it fluctuates all over the place for common DDR
but in general the yields go up with time and faster memory becomes
less expensive.
Of course we can't recommend much until we know things like the
budget, primary uses of the system, the most demanding use, the case
style (bland or colorful, fancy or not, large or small, etc). For
power supply it also depends on how much gear you need to power, but
go with a proven name-brand, NOT some generic included-with-case power
supply. You might as well just wait on choosing a CPU, motherboard,
video.
Right now you might want to go somewhere like
http://www.newegg.com or
http://www.directron.com , and take a look at the product pictures,
get some ideas of what cases catch your eye. Look for something with
thick-walled metal, steel at minimum .8mm thick but 1.0 is better, and
consider that Aluminum cases need to be slightly thicker than same
steel case (design) to have same sturdiness.
