i have two computers with XP home
Dell desktop w/ XP disk
HP laptop w/o XP disk
first owner of laptop said he did not
receive the disk with purchase from CompUSA.
i do have the drive cd.

both units have XP decal with reg. #.

recently the laptop will not open
up completely. it keeps asking me
for a password which i did not install.

maybe a virus? pword hint "guarding white"

i boot off the desk top XP cd and start in
rescue mode and that gets me to
C:\windows.

can i reload windows from rescue mode
w/o loosing .doc .xls .jpg etc email etc.

any simple way to strip off password?
