I have a very simple report with a page header and one group header. I would
really like the data to 'stay together' if it runs onto another page, but
don't seem to be able to achieve this. In the properties for the group
header

Force new page None
New Row or Col None
Keep together Yes
Visible Yes

However, if there are too many items in the group - it breaks into the next
page. I would rather it was all kept together if possible. Perhaps I am
misunderstanding the 'keep together' option.

Dear Chip,

Maybe what I want is not possible. Sometimes the items in the group might be
only 4 or 5 rows. I do not really want to start a new page for each one, but
say for example there are 8 of one group, 4 of another, then 20 of another -
I would quite like the 20 to begin on a new page and continue, rather than
start on the first page and then be broken onto a subsequent page. I thought
that was what the "keep together" option was for.

Hi Laura,

Maybe what you would want to do is insert a page break after each group
footer... so that at least each new group starts at the top of the next
page? If so,
Do a Right Click on the Header Bar in thedesign view of the report, then
Choose Properties, then Choose the Format Tab, then in the "Force New Page"
area, Choose "Before Section" or "After Section" depending on how you want
it to print out....

IF you have a group set up, then in the sorting and grouping dialog there is an
option Keep Together with three choices: No, Whole Group, and With first detail.
Is this where you are setting your preference for the group? If not, do so.
Keep together on a section refers to keeping the items of that particular
section together.

SELECT View: Sorting and Grouping from the menu
Select the group that you want to keep together and set the Keep Together option
to Whole Group
Close Sorting and grouping and save the change.

And get rid of the Page Break control.

Great - Exactly what I wanted - thank you so much. I did not see the options
in the sorting & grouping dialog box for keep together. It's works exactly
as I need - again THANKS.
