I'm looking to build a new P4 system for home. It needs to be fairly
powerful- used for design, CAD, 3d Studio MAx etc......

Can anyone recommend a good P4 Mobo and GFX card (reasonable priced).

Or somewhere that give some good reviews?

I've got 512MB of SDRAM in my current system which I'd like to use in the
new system. Do P4 motherboards allow this type of RAM or is it just DDR
now?

any help appreciated!

In my opinion:

M/B - The Intel 875PBZ motherboard. It's rock solid stable and got almost
as much features as other boards. If you're an overclocker, I'd avoid it.
I don't overclock myself.

GFX - I'd say something half recent/decent, maybe the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro.
It's not over powerful, but then again, you don't need that for what you do.
For rendering though, like in 3D Studio MAX, you may need a dedicate card,
like an Wildcat or one of the ATI specialist cards.

So far as I know, the 875PBZ only wants DDR memory. It can accept DDR 333
or DDR 400. Who makes your RAM and what is the model number?

I also am putting one together. I was going to go with the Asus P-800E but
after reading some reviews I am having second thoughts. Seems like many have
had config or stability problems.

Maybe someone can shed some light or verify this info.

Thanks..
