Cheers, it's been a while since I last updated!

same 2 months since last update :p
oh, since you updated ... :o

supposedly an "driver improvement" to my game, we shall see. :)

Ah that Update feature is so pointless. ;)

Dont bother even installing it. ;)

Choose custom install, deselect the updater and 3D if you dont use it. Dont hurtn ticking the clean install box either. :)

I like the 'clean install' something that should be implemented on any software update :)

wonder when they gonna 'fix' the fan issue.

What fan issue?
the fan speed is set at 40%, it is supposed to increase as the card gets hotter, it does not, and, you cannot control the speed at all since around, insert cock-up number here, series ...

Dynamically adjustable voltages and fan speeds: Adjust motherboard voltage levels without a reboot, as well as dynamically control fan speeds. New option for temperature-based fan control.
... features may not be available with all NVIDIA nForce models.
I used to be able to control the fan speed. Not for awhile now, using MSI AB.

I'm using MSI AB, not sure if it latest, but the ver I have does allow me to turn the fan up.

:)

yes, I can use MSI AB

My original comment was aimed at nVidia dropping support for the fan-speed-control that used to be in with their "we-do-it-all" drivers, but now send out drivers that are quite crap at any individual card ... unless you have a new-ish card where you need to visit your local hospital to remove a kidney. Fortunately, these do drop in price as soon as a new card is produced. :)

Not for the first time a respected manufacturer, in the eyes of the common masses, have succeeded in producing substandard products. I mean, why fit a fan that if one does succeed in getting it to run at 100%, sounds like a bloody turbo jet engine, but, cleverly hides this fact by only running the thing at 40% capacity, then allowing it to get hot enough so that artifacts appear onscreen due to the card overheating.

May try another manufacturer's brand.

Ah i get you now. :)

Have you tried setting up a custom fan profile in AB? Like when it hits a certain temp the fan bumps up a little. That should work?

Since installing these drivers I've had several games crash on me or freeze including The Witcher One (enhanced edition) which previously was stable.

It's either these drivers or me recently messing about trying to see which older games run within Win 7 64 Bit. So far, every older game I've tried within Win 7 has worked but there's still possibly a conflict.

Just thought I'd point that out.

The last set of official Nvidia drivers I had a real problem with must have been about seven or eight years ago, incidentally.
