To begin with I know nothing about Notebooks. I'm thinking of buying
one and browsing I read that I shouldn't buy one without bluetooth so
what is this and how would I know if the one I select has it. The one I
like is the acer 3613. Thanks

It's a short range wireless protocol, meant to allow use of
bluetooth devices without having to plug in a separate
transmitter/receiver dongle. Problem is, it's not always
strong enough integrated into a notebook and you may need
the dongle for best results anyway... you'll have to try it
and see. It's not an uncommon feature though, you should
probably base selection on other features.

There is a bit of info on Bluetooth here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth

I don't see Bluetooth mentioned in the specs for Acer 3613:

You can always get an adapter like this one:

There is no need to worry about not having bluetooth. If it turns you
need it, you can get an addon card later.

About the Acer 3613. It is decent, but get 512 meg of ram, not 256, Xp
will be happier that way. If you want to eventually put Vista on it,
you need 512, but it will probably be better with 1GB.
