I hope this is the place for a question like this.
I just bought a hp pavilion ze4600. I charged the battery. But when I use
battery power the screen display is very dull. Is this a problem with the
computer or the battery? Or is this normal? I am ready to take this
computer back.
Thanks for any answers because I am totally lost with these kinds of
problems.

Look under Power Options in the Control Panel. It is automatic for most
notebooks to have a 'dimmer' screen while running under battery power than
when under A/C power to save battery life.

You can override this, but remember the brighter the screen, the shorter the
battery life.

Also you can Hold the Fn key and hit the f2 key. I do have one tip I
learned from my ze4610. If its running extremely slow check power
options and make sure it is at least on portable/laptop. Mine went
into "presentation" mode while on battery. Which defaulted it to
519Mhz all the time. Portable/laptop adjusts due to demand.
