Hello!
Just installed NAV last weekend.
I can't get it to stop going immediately to the internet every time I start
up my computer.
Is there a way to do this?
I went to their website and didn't find any answers.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I had this same problem, it is an easy fix. Here is what you need to do:

Open up your control panel (you can also go in through your IE's "Tools -
Internet Options"
click on the internet options icon
click on the connection tab and select the radio button "Never Dial a
Connection"

The next time you boot your computer Norton will run but not try and call
home until you decide to go on the net. What Norton is trying to do is
check and see if there are any anti-virus updates available for it to
download.
You will have to either create a shortcut on your desktop that will bring up
your dialup connection or go in through "My Computer - Dialup Networking" to
go online however, because doing this disables all browsers and internet
devices from accessing your dial up connection by themselves.

Hope this helps.

If you do change the settings so it doesn't connect to the internet by
itself, make sure you keep it up to date often by using the "Live Update"
feature. It can't protect you without being up-to-date.

Something's "strange" about that. Never had the
problem and I do have it set to load when I start
windows, so it's there, and in the tray, all the time.
If I recall correctly, there was a way to make it wait
until you logged on before it started doing auto-update
checks etc.. Actually, I disabled the auto-update on
mine and set it to just tell me when updates were
available. That way the auto updates don't get in the
way of my normal surfing activities and slow things
down. It's not supposed to slow things down, but it
does in my experience and of course it has to use cpu
cycles too.

Thanks so much, Eric. This fixed the problem.
Thanks to everyone else who replied as well.
With much relief,
