I need to replace my motherboard.
My hard drive was preinstalled with xp pro. How does one
do a reinstall without the cd.

no need to re-install xp ... just hook up old drive to
new system ... xp will take care of it for you

Be very very careful.

Unless the new motherboard is identical to the old one, or very close
to it, your computer may not operate properly and in fact may not boot
at all.

If you do not have a Windows XP then you may have a very difficult
problem to overcome, as a "repair install", which requires a full
Windows XP CD, is normally required when replacing the motherboard
with a different make and/or model.

That is true only if the new motherboard is essentially identical to
the old. Other messages in this thread tell you how to do the
in place repair if you are moving to another model motherboard.
