New Motherboard - License Question

I have Windows XP Professional that I have registered and activated with Microsoft over a year ago. I am going to change my motherboard and graphics card and was wondering if this will affect the license. I have been told that the XP license is somehow tied to the PC hardware and by switching hardware it may cause a problem. Can someone shed any light on this for me

Thank you

Scott

That would have no effect on the license, only if you had to reinstall XP would you need to re-activate it.

Scott;
As long as Windows XP is retail and not OEM, you will have no problem.
A Repair Installation is normally required after a motherboard
replacement to properly detect the new hardware:

Activation worst case is a 5 minute call to Microsoft.

If Windows XP is OEM, this may not be possible with a motherboard
replacement.
