I am upgrading my system with new Motherboard (ASUS A7V8X-X) CPU (AMD Athlon
XP2600)
and 333MHz DDR RAM.

Will I be able to simply replace the 'old' with the 'new' and boot-up as
normal or is there more to this upgrade than I am aware of? The Hard Drive
(C) which holds all my operating and applications files as well as all other
files and folders is being retained.

Your valuable comments would be welcomed
Thanks

I would reinstall because of the hardware change. Very likely you need
a new HAL.DLL (a kind of a generic hardware driver that is created
during the Windows installation).

Boot off the xp cd rom and do a repair install. Set your bios to boot off
the cd rom.

You dont have to format the machine, you can do an inplace upgrade on the
machine (boot from the CD and repair the installation) and that should
re-enumerate the hardware.
