new motherboard and harddrive

i have just upgraded my pc with a new motherboard and hard
drive and went to install windows 2000 from my old rescue
disc and it siad my bios are wrong can i still install
windows 2000 or do i have to buy a new copy?
Can someone tell me how to extract the files needed to set
up win2000
 
Hi Peter,

It's entirely possible that your OEM Rescue CD has a feature where it checks
your BIOS to make sure your installing on OEM hardware. Try calling your
OEM of the original motherboard to see if the Rescue CD will work on other
manufactures hardware. In the even that it will not install you would have
to buy a new copy of Windows 2000.

You cannot install Windows 2000 on different hardware using OEM media. You
will probably need to purchase a retail copy of Windows 2000.
