OK - I have my own Exchange 5.5 server that works
fine...sort of.
When I connect to it via Outlook 2000 or 2002 - I can send
messages fine and sometimes get messages, but 99% of the
time, any new mail that comes in while I'm in Outlook and
looking at the inbox doesn't show up unless I click on any
other folder, like Sent Items or Drafts or any other
folder for that matter.
If I'm in Inbox, I can hit Send & Receive and nothing
shows up, but as soon as I click on any other folder, new
messages will then be displayed, then I can go back to the
inbox and read them.

All mail is residing on the Exchange server mailbox, not
delivered to a .PST -- it does this on several machines.
Anybody have any ideas??

Please e-mail me if you do.

Thanks.

The problem is that the UDP packets that Exchange uses to notify Outlook of
changes aren't making it to Outlook. Have your network administrator look
at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;815052, which
might be the problem. Other possible culprits are routers, firewalls, etc.
If you can't solve the network problem, you can make the registry changes in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q305572 (Outlook
2002) or http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q304849
(Outlook 2000) to cause Outlook to poll the Exchange server.
