New Message without calling up Outlook

I have a shortcut in my QuickLaunch toolbar (can't recall where I got it)
that allows me to create a new appointment without having to first recall
the Outlook window. Works great!

I also want to be able to create an email without having to recall the
Outlook window. Ideally, I'd like to be able to hit a keystroke (say,
Ctrl+Alt+M) anywhere in Windows and have an email composition window appear.
Any ideas?

create a shortcut and assign the keystrokes to it. the shortcut command line
should be
outlook.exe /c ipm.note

Be aware that you are opening outlook when you do this - it's not running
with the GUI loaded and messages won't be sent until you do open outlook
completely.

Thanks, much! I've always got Outlook running, but minimized to the
systray. This makes shooting off a quick email so much simpler.

Thanks again,

Greg
