new media window won't open

hello,

many times when I am trying to view videos, clips, music,
or anytime that IE tries to open up a new window after i
click on a link when I'm browsing, the new window appears
for about two seconds, then just vanishes....Does anyone
know what's wrong? It's so frustrating...also, how do I
configure IE to only use a certain media player on my
computer to play all it's streaming media?

please help!!
