New Letter to Contact

When I click Actions, New Letter to Contact, the process does not complete.
However, when I type Ctrl-Alt-Del and stop the process, the action is
completed. This happens with most Contacts but not all.

You didn't tell us much.
What does happen instead?
What error messages?
What Outlook version, what Word version and do they match?

Thanks. I am running Office 2003. With a contact open in Outlook 2003, I
click New Letter to Contact and nothing happens. The "hour glass" runs
forever. So I click Crtl-Alt-Del and the Program Not Responding box comes
up. As soon as I click Close, there is the next box in the New Letter to
Contact process. Some of the time the process works just like it was
designed to do but most of the time I have to go through the longer process
to make New Letter to Contact work. And advice will be appreciated.

Odd. Never seen this one.
Did this ever work correctly?
Does it work correctly if you do this from the Contacts Folder instead of
the open Contact Record?
Have you made any recent changes to your setup?

Also, do you notice a new Word Document opening when you do this from the
open Contact Record? If so, you should switch to that view to complete the
process. If your focus remains on the open Contact Record it will just sit
there and fibrillate until you complete the process in Word.

A Word document (the new letter template) is trying to open but the program
freezes up until I hit Crtl-Alt-Del. Then the process finishes and the new
letter is there with the correct contact. From your previous post, I have
not tried this action from the Contacts folder, only from the open contact.
Also, this problem does not occur every time (but most) I try New Letter to
Contact. Plus, a contact that works one time does not work the next time. I
have not changed anything in the setup. This sounds like Office 2003 may
need to be reinstalled but I wanted an expert to suggest this or other
solutions. Thanks.

Reinstalling Office solves nothing.
If I were you I'd use this command only from the Contacts Folder (as
intended), not the Contacts Record. If you insist on doing the latter, then
you must manually switch to the Word Document in the taskbar to complete the
task.
