I have just bought a Toshiba A45-S120 laptop. With no new programs
installed, the computer often (but not always) hangs upon restart. A
blank screen is shown, and the computer has to be powered up with the
power button. An error message says Windows XP did not start
correctly. A series of options is given. Selecting "start Windows XP
normally" starts the laptop without apparent problems. This happened
on another A45-S120 laptop that I returned after a day. No other
problems have surfaced this far.
Does anyone have any ideas about a solution? I may take this second
computer back and get my money back. A new laptop should not be doing
this. Toshiba's contract online help consultants said that the laptop
should be returned as defective. What strikes me as odd is that the
identical problem has occurred on 2 new computers.
This computer is replacing a 90mhz Toshiba laptop that was purchased
in 1996. That computer was extremely reliable. If my new problems
are any indications, reliability of Toshiba laptops has seemingly
deteriorated!
Thanks for any suggestions,
