I cannot set up a new connection to my computer through a hub. In "network and dial-up connection" I'm trying to make a new connection directly to my computer. The only option that is available is "dial up to the internet." "Connect directly to another computer" and "connect to a private network" is not an option/faded out.
Is there an option in win2000 pro to disable all network connections? If so how do I enable it back?
I bought this laptop from a company and maybe the admin. had it set up that way.

- I can log on fine as administrator to the laptop
- I have another laptop with windows ME edition and have no problem connecting

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

If you cannot see the option "Local Area Connection" in
"Network and Dial-up Connections" then your laptop does
not recognise your network adapter. Launch the Device
Manager and find out why the adapter does not run, then
re-install the correct driver for it.
