I'm having trouble installing WinXP on my Dell Dimension L933r PC. We've had the machine for 3 years, and it has been giving us trouble recently, so we decided to dump all the files onto an external hard drive, wipe the C: clean, and install WinXP. But when we try to new install the XP and clean the drive and the Winxp setup menu shows up after restart, it wond't let us clean the internal hard drive because "Windows already has necessary setup components on this partition." So, we would like to be able to format the internal hard drive and still be able to install XP. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello,

Insert the CD, and reboot the computer, so it boots from the CD. This will
give you the option to format the drive.

I have tried this, but upon restarting, there is no difference in the booting, no autrun menu, no nothing.I just don't know what to do.

Hello,

If your computer is not old enough, you can enable this in BIOS. During
start up, look for a message that tells you which key to press to access
BIOS (it varies). From there you should be able to change the boot up
sequence, and make it possible to boot from a CD.
