Replaced motherboard and cpu. Got an OEM version of XP Home along with it.
Setup only works in windows environment, but will not install over 98.
After installation, I had a dual boot option of XP and 98. 98 is C: drive.
XP, with the exception of boot files and accompanying installation files are
on the Q: partition. The aforementioned files are on the C: drive.

I would like to1) clean install without a dual boot as I have recent boot
manager, 2) remove all the XP setup/install files on the C: drive in any
case excluding the boot files at the root of C:. Can I do either? Thanks.

Hi Dave,

Just boot from the install disk and format all drives and install on c:. You
will also be able to change partitions as needed. All data will be lost.

Wiped the both the XP and 98 partition. Restored the 98 partition from a
removable HD I had previously saved it to. Put 98 after, the first empty
space and an instance of 98 (Have another instance of 98 as well). Hid both
98 partitions. Installed XP from booting the install CD to the empty space
in front of the HD. Installed the boot manager. All is well.
