I bought a new computer with Vista.

I installed my VB2005 and did the needed upgrade from Microsoft due to
Vista.

I tried to open a poject that I previously created to start toying around
with programming on my WM5 phone. It was working before with the emulator
and also on the phone. Now when I try to open the project I get the
following error:

"Error retrieving from user datastore. Platform not found."

Can someone please assist me getting this thing back up and running?

Another question; I was never able to get the equivalent to an Access data
base to work on thi device.

THanks,
Steve

Hi there,

It sounds like you probably dont have the Windows Mobile 5 SDK installed,
Download that and i think it should fix your problem.

regards.

VB.NET itself doesn't have smart device development. You must have Visual
Studio, not simply a single-language product. If you *do* have Studio, then
I agree with Paul: no SDK installed.

Hi,

You need Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition (or higher). VB 2005 does not
support device development. Naturally, you may use VB .NET from Visual
Studio, though.

I installed the SDK for windows mobile.

I do have VB 2005 professional but only installed the VB part of it.

Thanks,
Steve

I installed the SDK and the program came back to life.

I own VB 2005 professional but only installed the VB part of it.

My next problem is how do I read access type data files on the pocket pc?

THanks,
Steve

Stephen,

Slightly off topic, but are you the Stephen Plotnick that worked at DA
Divisional Services in Aston, B'ham, UK, in the mid-70's ?

That would not be me; funny thing I did consulting work fo DA, Distribution
America, around 5 years ago in the Chicago area.
