I'm trying to install XP on a newly formatted HD. After copying files and doing it's first re-boot, I get the message "No NTLDR".

Unless you've already tried this a few times I would boot from the CD start
the install procedure again, delete the existing windows install reformat it
from there and install again.

Remove all the peripherals except keyboard and mouse and try again. Jym

Tom, I'll show you how I would do a preliminary search on a topic, a subject
I would like to learn more about, or, a solution to a problem I have with my
computer.

Taking "ntldr is missing" (NT Leader) as an example. You are lucky here,
for what you want to know is well defined, and can be described in a few
words, of which meaning nobody has any disagreement. First, type that in
the text box on the [Help and Support] page. I got 15 hits from MS
Knowledge Base.

Turning to DTS-L Fast Web Search and query the same
http://dts-l.org/searchme.htm
http://www.google.com/search?q=ntldr+missing&btng=SEARCH
from the WWW, 6600 hits
http://groups.google.com/groups?oi=djq&as_q=ntldr+missing
specifically from various newsgroups, 12900 hits

You can go on to MSKB, etc.(at the bottom) too. You can try a different
wording of the search topic, and start over. The quest can be as exhaustive
as you wish, but what you want to know is easily available, and, more
importantly, comprehensible! Good luck.
