I have a laptop with windows 2000 pro installed. I want to format the drive
and install Windows XP, but the laptop does not have a built in CD/DVD
player. I do have an external USB Cd/DVD that I can connect to it. My
queistion is: will the laptop read the XP Full version CD if I attempt this?
Thansk for any help.

Boot Win2000, insert CD, start setup from wothin Windows 2000. This will
work.

Or, if you need to format the harddrive, create a BartPE USB-bootable
version, copy cour CD contents to the usb drive and install within from
USB-booted BartPE.
