New install of XP w/SP2 will doesn't allow certain files

I tried to install some software that contains malicious code, and I
can't get it on my laptop. I've turned off DEP, software and hardware,
by editing the boot.ini. I also disabled and then removed Symantec.
I've attempted to rename the files, and that didn't work. I have them
zipped up, and after I 'extract all', they never show up. Nothing in
the event log either.

Perhaps you should contact the author for support with their "product".
