New install of XP PRO - cd help

I have put a new install of xp pro on a new harddrive and need help with the
cd write program - it came with Nero - but i've never been able to figure
this program out - everytime I 'burn' the 'image' it goes to my desktop -
supposedly the program is then supposed to take the image and burn it to the
cd ... it never does, and I can never get it to do that - I can get the
image on the cd - but not the files....it is Nero 5.0 - - someone said that
Roxio had a good free downloadable program but I've googled and not found
anything to download - only to buy off the net

can someone help me out here?

Nero 5.0 works great for burning cds.

are you burning iso's? Sounds like it. Anyway if you
browse the help menu available in the Nero buring utility
it should have instructions on how to burn the image. Most
likely if you are burning an iso and all you see is the
iso on the cd you probably burned it wrong. If its an iso
image you want to select an option to burn iso from image.
if you want to create an iso you need to select the files
you want to create the image with and select to create an
image.

You can try the Nero web site it documents how to do
anything you want.
