I've just had Windows Update install the new IE active-x patch -
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=912945 - which deactivates certain
embedded active-x controls. What exactly is the point of this patch? OK it
deactivates embedded active-x for whatever reason but then Microsoft provide
a range of complex ways of bypassing the patch -
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d.../author/dhtml/overview/activating_activex.asp
All this seems to achieve is to complicate things, is there a security
reason for this patch?
Also when I scroll a page with active-x content that hasn't been activated
(with this patch installed) it corrupts! Flash content on my site and others
seems highly susceptible to this. Why release a patch with such a flaw?
Sorry, just annoyed that my site is now problematic when before they were
fine (and I don't really want to have to go through everything replacing
embedded active-x to externally linked via javascript).
Thanks for any thoughts,
Paul
