Hello, all. I don't know if this is covered by this newsgroup, perhaps
someone can help.

I've been using OE 6 on a Dell system. Everything worked just fine.

I obtained a copy, believe it or not, of Outlook 97, and decided to give it
a try. I decided to scrap it. I uninstalled it completely.

Now, every time I try to forward an article from a newsgroup in OE I get an
error message that I don't have a "simple MAPI mailer" installed.

Is this something I erased when uninstalling Outlook?

Thanks.

Shut down all programs
Go to start/run and type the following exactly as it appears, including
quote marks and spaces.
The only thing that may change is the path to msimn.exe.

"c:\program files\outlook express\msimn.exe" /reg

Reboot and see if the issue is resolved.

Try..

Make sure Interet Options -> Programs tab lists Outlook Express as the email
program.

and

Outlook Express -> Tools -> Options -> General -> Make Default

(This time I'm responding to the correct post!) <grin>

Even though we've never met, may I say you're amazing???

Yes, it fixed the problem. And another problem arose in the meantime -- I
couldn't set OE as my default mailer! When I go to Control Panel, Internet
Options, there are no programs listed in the drop down menu. Your fix
actually fixed BOTH problems!!!

I am amazingly grateful.

Hah - how funny. I just responded to your other response to the incorrect
post wondering if you would share this amazing solution you received with us
(in case we need it in the future) and it ended up being a response to one
of my answers. *grin*

Glad the solution worked for you.. and thanks for coming back to let us
know!
