Tom

My current HDD is failing and has been promptly replaced by the supplier. I
was wondering, if I can simply copy (when formatted) my current install of
XP and just get right back where I am now. Or, do I have to install it
fresh. I have all of my other stuff saved to another partition, so it is no
problem having to reinstall if needed, but i want to save time having to
download all the updates, and blah, blah. Thanks now for any answers!

You can create a norton boot disk,
What we did while networking 100 machines that were the same we made one comptuer. Did the drivers and operating syetem and set the permission etc and then we did a ghost copy
If the machine is the same hardware you can do an enitre unfooable copy. You need to look out for norton ghost and ask arround in forums about aht

First;y, I just wanted to follow up with everyone that offered help with
thanks! Anyway, whatI did was make four partitons on the replacement drive I
got, to the same as the original, formatted NTFS and FAT32 as I had them for
use with ME and XP-Pro. I used a disk utility that came with my other new
drive, and simply copied them over to their respective partions master to
slave (new drive was slave). I formatted the new drive with the original
drive using disk management, but left the new partition I created on my
replacement without drive letters. I then took out the old drive, move the
shunts to make the new one set as master, and it booted right up into
windows. I did have to name the other partitions with the correct drive
letters, since it could only assign the boot drive with "C", and it found
all the programs and targets on those drives!. Anyway thanks to all that
helped.
