Hi,

I'm not sure if this is a XP query but hopefully someone can shed light on
my minor problem.

I installed a new Hard Drive and loaded my copy of XP with all the updates
etc but now it won't turn off the computer when I close down.

I get the "It is now safe to switch your PC/computer" page instead.

Is there a setting in XP to switch the pc off or is it a BIOS setting that
needs to be altered.

Thanks.

Check Control Panel> Power Options. If there is an APM tab, click the tab
to bring it to the forefront and then check the box to enable this.

Hi Sharon,

That's done it.

Many thanks,
Mike.
