I get the "New Hardware Wizard on Bootup for my Canon BJC
2010. I Have the latest Drivers installed and it works
perfectly.
My problem is That I have uninstalled and reinstalled
the printer drivers according to Canon's faq and Cari's
advice from one of the posts in the newsgoup...but to no
avail.
On bootup I get TWO New Hardware Wizard
prompts ..on right after I cancel the other one. Also I
have the Boxes checked to not show this prompt again but
to no avail. Infact next time I reboot they come back
with this box checked and still appear!
Also I've completely uninstalled the software and
unpluged the cable and plug and rebooted and still get
the NEW Hardware prompts!! I think maybe it's a bad key
in the registry but how do you fix that. I was hoping a
microsoft expert could help me out. I really would hate
to reformat just because of this. XP has been working
great. I should have used my restore point right away but
instead I kept uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers
and I no longer have that point. Please help!!!!!!!

respectfully,ZB

Cari, Yes I completely uninstalled the drivers and
reinstalled them numerous times. Understand that I get
these screens even if my printer is uninstalled and
disconeccted. How do you check to see if the printer is
set to EPP in the Bios?

Getting into the BIOS is a keypress at startup. Exactly which keypress
depends on your motherboard..... I've come across DEL, F1, F2, F10 etc
etc.... If you know what motherboard you have, the manual will tell you
which key to press. If you just have the PC manual, you should be able to
find it in there somewhere (they often hide it).

One trick to try if you cannot find it anywhere.... Start the PC WITHOUT the
keyboard being attached... you'll probably get an error message which tells
you what key to press!... so reattach the keyboard, restart the PC... and
hit the appropriate key REALLY quickly. If the XP startup screen appears,
you weren't quick enough.

Cari....found it by using delete...went there...my LPT 1
port was set at bi-directional so I changed it to
EPP.......unfortunately the "new hardware wizard" apears
at bootup again.
rtespectfully, ZB

Found the cure!!!!!!!!! Did a search at Teoma.com and
found this. Go to Device Manager and clicl on view-show
hidden files. Went to the printer found two extra
printers there with Exclamations! Diable them. No more
New Hardware screens!!!!!!!! (Omnly I uninstalled
them). Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
