Running Windows XP Home

I have installed an Epson Stylus Color 880 printer. It installed just fine
and operates flawlessly.

My problem is that each time I bootup my PC, I get these 2 popups that state
that new hardware has been found and that I need to insert my CD
installation disk. Other than the annoyance on bootup, my printer is
working fine. I tried using Mike Lin's little tool to discover the file
that was causing this, but was unable to determined any file that looked
like the culprit. I don't mind going into the registry, but I'm not sure
where to look for the offending files, so I can correct this annoyance.

Thanks for some input on this subject, anyone!

go to control panel - system - hardware - device manager and see if you have
any unknown/new devices there. its possible its not your printer generating
these messages

cheers

Try turning off your printer while PC is still running.
Then power printer back on.
Does it initialize correctly.
I assume this is a USB printer.

Thanks, Dennis! No, it is a serial connection. I've used this printer
before and never had a problem with installation. I do notice that there is
a USB connection option on this printer. Maybe I'll just uninstall the
printer and try the USB connection.

As you suggested, I tried turning the printer off and back on while my PC is
running and I'm getting the same "Installation Wizard" popups (2) suggesting
that I insert the printer CD. However, when I click out of the popups, the
printer performs perfectly. ??? Arrgh!

This is probably stupid question: but have you actually installed CD as
requested instead of just closing the pop-ups?

Here is how I solved a similar problem: Go to Device Manager - click on
view - click on show hidden devices - find the device (printer) that's
causing the problem and delete it or uninstall it.
Hope this helps

YOU GUYS WERE GREAT!

You did a nice job of giving me the input to enable me to correct the
problem

My PC was basically trying to re-install a printer that I no longer needed
and had uninstalled. I finally changed to a USB connection and uninstalled
and reinstalled my new printer software and everything is cool now. No
popups! Yea!!!

Thanks all for you considerate input. This is my first time here at Windows
XP new users, I believe, and what a great group!
