Upon booting my XP operating system, I am presented with
the message: Found New Hardware, this wizard helps you
install software for: Vid_04e6 pid_80000040". I'm
trying to decipher this "VID"code, because I did not
install any new hardware. Does anyone know how do
decipher this code, so that I know what new hardware XP
thinks it is seeing?

A seacrh on google with Vid_04e6 pid_80000040 brought up this, along
with other things...

---------------------
"I've found some issues with the ScanJet 3200C on Windows 2000, but none
of those listed in your links.

After I downloaded and installed both files from the website
(sj648en.exe and sj329en.exe), it still wouldn't work, and the Found New
Hardware Wizard prompt that appears after reboot, doesn't find the
drivers for the device.

It installs an unknown device named VID_04E6 PID_80000040, or
PID_80002000 and a hidden disabled PPScan device.

Any clues? "
