Everythime I start XP, I get new hardware found. It tells me the there is a problem with my installation. It applied to my modem. I have DSL and everything works fine. How do I get this to stop coming up?

This usually occurs when Windows does not have the correct driver installed for that device. My recommendation is to locate the driver disk or CD that came with that device and proceed to install the driver once more.

I have a similar problem. Immediately after downloading the latest updates from MS and restarting, I have been troubled with the New Hardware Wizard. It says new hardware was found but "Unknown" comes up as the hardware found. It then begins to search for drivers and of course doesn't find any. To work around this I have tried to follow it through by picking a device and having its driver loaded. Today that no longer works because the hardware wizard keeps popping in and I am unable to stop this from happening. Checking the KB shows similar problems for specific devices and/or computers but they don't really address my issue. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. I see a post that asks if these are downloads or viruses, I am beginning to wonder.
