New hardware found - does not show printer (Lexmark X4270)

We have to reinstall our printer (checked its working on another machine) so
we removed the software etc . . . but XP does not show new hardward found on
reboot and if we manually select it in the Add Hardware section - it does not
show a USB port as an option.

We also tried the Lexmark disk and it too says the printer is not connected
to the system. I have tried both USB ports - it makes no difference . . .and
yes the ports are working as they recognize the camera, hub etc.

Thank you

Try allowing the printer to your firewall.
If you're using Windows Firewall, go to Start -> Control Panel -> - Windows
Firewall.

Go to "Exceptions" and see if Lexmark is in there, or something with your
printer.
If it is, and it's not check marked, check mark it, then click OK. Sometimes
rebooting helps.

If that doesnt, go back to your Firewall and Exceptions, click "Add Program"
and search the list for your printer.
If not in there, click "Browse" and go to "My Computer", then your C Drive,
and Program Files.
Search for Lexmark.
Once you find the folder, find the .exe file and add it to the list. You
might need to reboot.

If this doesn't fix the problem, you may need to call the company for
technical support.

The Data Cable of your printer could also be faulty. Try replacing it with
other cable. Just for testing purpose you can also try some other printer's
USB cable or try pluging your printer's cable to some others and check if
that printer works.

Let us know!
