I am thinking about taking a hard drive out of my old XP machine and adding
it to my new Vista Home Premium. Any comments, do's or don'ts would be
appreciated.

Without knowing anything about either system's hardware components or
your ultimate goal, it's not possible to provide any sort of concise,
definitive answer.

Is the old hard drive SCSI, SATA, EIDE, etc.? Does the new computer
have the appropriate interface to which you can connect the old hard drive?

Is your intent only to access/transfer data from the old hard drive, or
are you thinking of creating a dual-boot configuration?

thks for the comments. Looks like my XP drive is ATA and my Vista system
uses SATA. So I am out of luck.

No, you're not. Your motherboard presumably has ATA support too, and
the two can coexist.

Thks, I did find the connections on my motherboard to connect the parallel
hard drive. Seems to be working okay.

Thanks again.
