Christopher

I have recently purchased a Western Digital hard drive
(WD16 00JB-00DUAO) that is 180 GB. It came with a card
to allow it to operate at that large capacity. It does
not matter how I partition it, it still tells me that it
only has 127 GB. I have tried everything. Somebody,
Please help. Thanks,
Chris

It is likely that your motherboard needs a BIOS update
flashed to it so that it will allow such large size HD. Go
to the PC maker's web site or board maker to search for it.

Thanks Jime I'll try that in the morning.

It is not your BIOS if you have an add-in card. It has it's OWN BIOS but
may need the update from www.wdc.com .
http://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp And update it's drivers.

Or try this if it is just the OS that won't read it
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303013

Flashing your motherboard BIOS is risky and shouldn't be done unless
absolutely necessary and your motherboard BIOS has nothing to do with the
BIOS on the add-in card that came with the hard drive. I repeat the add-in
card has it's own BIOS separate from the mobo. Go to the update page that I
listed above and go to the MS site, also listed above and read the MS fix.

Chris,
Can u report back if that worked as I have a similiar WD
drive that I cannot get XP to see all its space.

Lal (see posts large under 175GB)
