I have a message saying that my hard drive is about to
fail. What is the best way to transfer to a new hard
drive? How do I set up a network between 2 computers to
move data over? Thank you.
.
Hummmmm message?Ever think of profesional help, and
medication?Does it also talk to you too?Ok,just joking
(getting close to the first of April -fools- you
know). Now best thing to do is go out and buy a new hard
drive, and copy it to the new drive, then take out the old
drive set the new drive as master and change the jumper
settings to master, put her back together and your back in
buisness!Or use the transfer wizard on your XP,start, all
programs,accessories.system tools,transfer and settings
wizard(will help you through it).Thats the option you'll
want if your not going to use the computer for a
while, and you want to do a clean install with a new drive.
(but the faster way,is new HD,buy one Western Digital has
a E-Z to use transfer lifeguard, you just put new drive in
as slave in an M-T slot, plug in as slave runs it and
transfer ALL the contents of the old drive as a bootable
drive to the new one, when it's done take out old
drive, change jumper on new drive as master and plug it
into the master cable the old drive was pluged into, and
you'll be ready to go with ALL you info and settings the
same).
