New Hard Drive For Laptop

i just bought a new hard drive for my laptop. It's the same model the laptop
came with when I bought it.
When I boot with the Windows XP CD in, it doesn'r reconize the drive.

Any suggestions?

First see if the drive is recognized by the bios...
if not...then check to see if it has a jumper on it...and be sure it's
configured the same way your old drive is

You probably need to adjust the boot order in your BIOS.
First boot device: CDROM
Second boot device: IDE
