Yesterday, when attempting to boot up my computer, it
only went as far as checking to see if there were any
boot disks in my drives, then the screen went black and
nothing else happened, luckily, after a whole day of
trying, I was able to re-install windows, however,
everything on the drive was gone. I knew that this was
probably to to a hardware error, so I purchased a new one
online, but the problem is, I will be setting it as the
master, and the old one as a slave, but will I need to
reformat my old one to remove Windows, or is there anyway
of doing this, but keeping the rest of the contents safe?

Thanks In Advance

.
My main concern really isL when I start using the new
HDD and I activate Win XP Home, won't that give a
problem, as I assume Microsoft will notice it is now on
another HDD ?
Or not?
