New folder on every hard drive - INCINERATE

Today, I noticed that a new folder has been created on every one of my hard
drive partitions. The folder is called INCINERATE, and -- in each case --
it contains exactly two files. One is called INFO.SHR, and has 0 bytes.
The other is a DESKTOP.INI file with a single entry in it -- typically
something like:

[.ShellClassInfo]
CLSID={23CE4E06-2508-11D0-1977-0734210ABE0B}

Recently, as a result of an increased concern over viruses, Trojans,
spyware, adware, etc., I've built up my system security. In just the last
few days, I've added ZoneAlarm to my (existing) Norton Anti-virus, and I
also run SpyBot Search & Destroy. I suspect that *something* (either one of
these, or some other utility I've tested out in the past few days) has
caused this new addition.

I'd like to know what's doing it, and why. How can I track this down?

It's a feature of iolo's System Mechanic. You've probably installed/tested System Mechanic's Incinerator feature.

Thank you. Yes, I did try their free download -- just yesterday, in fact.
I immediately "dumped" it, though, as it continually caused my computer to
re-boot every time I ran it!

Apparently their UNINSTALL application doesn't do a very thorough clean-up.
(In fact, I went back into the Registry, and also found that they'd left
"traces" of their software in the HKCU/SOFTWARE section, as well!)

Thanks for the pointer. Here's hoping that, by cleaning up after the
Uninstall, I won't see the problem again.
