New Exclusive Access Message

Until Monday of last week I could sign on to the Volunteer Scheduling
application without problem. Starting then, I receive the following message:
"You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time. If you
proceed to make changes, you may not be able to save them later." If I click
on "OK" thirty one times, the application completes boot up and I am allowed
to do anything including record updates, but not exclusive updates. For
exclusive updates I must have everyone sign off and then initiate exclusive
control.

The help document starts by saying "you may encounter this message when
attempting to open the database object in Design view." I am NOT opening it
in design view. When I click on the hyperlink at the bottom of the help
document, it states "Currently there are no Office Assistance articles
available for this error message." Our IT Operations specialist has no clue
as to why this is happening and what to do about it.

Help would be appreciated.

I assume this is access? If so, open the access file and make sure it is
not set up as exclusive.

If this does not solve the issue, try opening windows explorer on the
same drive as the access file and see if you can then do your work
without the multiple clicks. If so, there is a permissions error that
resolves once it knows who you are on the domain.

Yes, it is Access. Sorry I wasn't clear about that. I don't know how to
open an access file and make sure it is not set up as exclusive. I do know
that there are three other users signed on and using the application that did
not have similar error conditions. There are events to write their names to a
file when they open the main form and delete them from that file when they
close that form. I am supposed to be the administrator and I can see where I
have been so authorized. Our IT operations person cannot see where it is a
permissions problem. It also seems odd that precisely 31 clicks are needed
every time I sign on, and are only recently needed (after four years of
working correctly).

It is not disabling, but is time consuming and annoying. Help!

Do you ever have the Access file opened on your machine while this is
happening?

Another potential issue is the path is not properly established (a
networking error), which is why you should open a folder on the machine
before trying the app and see if it solves the issue. If so, contact
networking, as they have you set up incorrectly.

The fact that other users are fine suggests it is something with your
machine.
