new email does not appear in inbox

I have a problem w/ outlook 2002 with exchange 2000. If I
have Outlook open, new email does not automaticall appear
in inbox until I manually refresh the page by going into
an email & then back out. Has anyone seen this before?

Notification from Exchange to the client (Outlook) is performed using
UDP. This is one-way communication. If something is blocking the UDP
packets then your client won't get notification of new e-mails. Could
be a router, especially if a NAT-capable router. Talk to the Exchange
or IT folks on why UDP is getting blocked. Of course, if you're running
a personal software firewall on your host then maybe you're the culprit.
