I have installed a new dvd writer. The hardware is recognised by the computer
but has issue when trying to install drivers for it. Everything appears to be
correctly connected.

Receive the following Error:

error Code 39, missing or corrupted drivers.........have tried all sorts to
fix it...

Been in to device manager, un-installing, re-installing.......

followed advice on website from samsung as to how to fix it. NO luck

I have also discovered that troubleshoot no longer works on my comp!

new dvd drive is: samsung super Writemaster SH-S182

have looked at these pages for help but doesn't fix anything.

chview&no=21&Type=1&resultSearchWord=&allSearchWord=&Productcode=SDR&PageNumber=1&getnumber=

Any ideas would be great.my child is disabled and we need the dvd drive to
work so that she can use her communication programs!

What program or application is being used to view the DVD programs?
Most DVD sales include a DVD program that can be installed. But the
exception to this would be a bare-bones, OEM drive.

Its not actually software that is the problem, its the actual drivers for
the dvd writer, the physical hardware....

C drive recognises that hardware has been installed but there is a problem
installing the drivers they are missing or corrupted. I cant use the cd it
came with to load anything until the drive itself is working properly.

Hi,

I am not sure if you have uninstalled any DVD/CD recording program, but try
the following articles from MS KN to see if it helps:

You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive, or you receive an
error message after you remove a CD recording program or a DVD recording
program in Windows XP: "error code 31"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060?sd=dell

Note:

This article says error code 31, but it actually applies to several other
error codes 31, 32, 19, 39 which was referred by Dell's KB, and it even
applied to my own code 41 for unknown reasons.

For my case, I suspect it is caused by uninstalling an image-based backup
program not a DVD recording program.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thank you so much that worked!!!

Now i just need to sort the damn touchscreen monitor!

Thank you

Zoe
