New DVD Burner getting "Code 10" msg

Harry

I am trying to add HP's (external) MovieWriter dc3000 DVD
burner to my HP Pavillion system -- which already has an
internal CD burner and a DVD/CD reader. Win XP-Pro
chokes right after installing the driver with this msg:

"The following hw was installed: HP MovieWriter dc3000.
The software for this device is now installed, buy may
not work correctly. This device can not start -- (Code
10)."

Any help appreciated -- I'm thinking I may have to get
rid of the internal CD burner (?)

Thanks, Harry

Thanks Sky

You are apparently correct -- after enduring the de-bug
effort, the HP support people wound up saying that I had
a "bad IDE cable" inside of the dc3000, so they're going
to replace it.
