To the Group.
My company is changing its name and internet address. What
steps must we take to change the domain name on active
directory. Can i move everything into a new domain or do i
have to start from scratch.. thanks.

Thanks Matjaz for the prompt reply.

I had a bad feeling this wouldnt be a "walk in the park".
I browsed the article you mentioned which confirms this.
If you wouldnt mind commenting further given the structure
of our domain, i would greatly appreciate it..

1 win2k pdc which also runs exchange 2k mail server.
2 win2k bdcs
2 win2k member terminal servers
1 winnt 4 member server - its pretty old and was not
upgradeable to Win2K

would the plan be to create a new machine running WinNT4
(6a) integrate it as a BDC to carry out the domain change?

Thanks..

I'm afraid, that because of exchange server you are struck. Exchange server
needs W2k domain to be present all the time, and this article requires you
to add additional BDC to your domain, demote all w2k DC's, promote BDC back
to PDC and do another upgrade of your domain. During this procedure you
would lose all your global catalog servers and other domain data which are
vital to Exchange server. You would keep just all users and computer
accounts.
I would in your case consider creating a new domain and use ADMT to migrate
users and computers.
